ACTION ITEM LEGISLATION FOR WEEK OF FEBRUARY 25THHOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 2 – ERA (LANG) - ON THE HOUSE FLOOR -- BAD LEGISLATION
HB 5615 (CURRIE) – “CREATES THE REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE AND ACCESS ACT” This terrible bill would lock in ROE V. WADE by statute, create a public policy in support of abortion, Plan B Contraceptives, comprehensive sex education for all schools. It would nullify the Parental Notic Law, Partial-Birth Abortion, give the right to go to court to stop any action contrary to the law. IT WOULD INSURE TAXPAYER FUNDED ABORTIONS FOR ANY REASON. It would force all medical personnel, including pharmacists, to assit in obtaining abortion services even if they object to the "services." There is more. This bill is posted for House Human Services Committee for a hearing for Wednesday--27th. Bad legislation.
HB 4314 (FEIGENHOLTZ) – AMENDS THE ILLINOIS COMUNICABLE DISEASE PREVENTION ACT by deleting the section that requires the Illinois Department of Public Health or local health departments to give notice to a principal of the school in which a child is enrolled when that child has acquired AIDS or is HIV-positive. The principal may, as necessary, disclose the identity of such child to the school nurse or classroom teachers. This is teh bill State Representative Penny Pullen got through in 1987. We all know that fighting among students happens and blood could be exchanged. National studies show that students who fight are more likely to have had unsafe sex and use illicit drugs (who might share needles). These are two major ways HIV is transmitted, so those who fight may be more likely to be infected with HIV. On the House floor. Bad legislation.
HB 4731 (HARRIS) – AMENDS THE CHICAGO TEACHERS ARTICLE OF THE ILLINOIS PENSION CODE to allow for same-sex and opposite gender "partners" to receive survivor and death benefits the same "as a surviving spouse." The date of designation shall be as the "date of marriage." Posted in House Personnel and Pensions Committee for Thursday--28th. Bad legislation.
HB 1826 (HARRIS) – CIVIL UNIONS – SAME SEX MARRIAGE BILL. This bill is still on the House Calendar on 2nd Reading (amendatory state) from last year. The homosexuals will continue to work this bill with their hope of winning it one day (it took 15 years to add "sexual orientation" to the Human Rights Act. Bad legislation. (Note from Rev. Bob--This legislation has been endorsed by the Illinois State Bar Association.)
HB 5110 (FROEHLICH) REQUIRES A REFERENDUM on whether voters want a massive expansion on gambling (as has been proposed over the past year with more casinos, including a Chicago land-based casino and thousands of more slots.) Posted in House Gaming Committee on Wednesday--27th. Good Legislation.
Other legislation under consideration (per Rev. Bob):
HB 4619 legalizes 2 casinos to a person, firm, or corporation with at least 16% minority and 4% female ownership. Posted in the House Gaming Commitee. Bad legislation.
HB 1352 AUTHORIZES THE SALE OR LEASE OF THE LOTTERY. It would give the governor broad authority to sell or dispose of the Lottery. A private company could greatly expand the Lottery to increase sales, including video lottery terminals, Keno, and Internet Lottery--and the legislature would not be able to control it. Posted in the House State Government Administrative Committee--27th. Bad Legislation.
